heres a spreadsheet I made that shows how to optimally upgrade a set of custom gear to get the most bang for your QP buck.  This gear is only optimized to the things everyone uses (ac, hp, mana, to-hit, dmg and saves), you'd have to spend some additional QPs or forgo one of those buffs in order to maximize your chars stats, I'll leave that to you to figure out.  It also figures in adding the basic spell buffs somewhere (divine might, frostshield, lucidity and hp regen).

The Mind's Eye Inn/Tavern is Crimson's masterwork as far as puzzles.  I suspect a few folks have solved many or most of them, but more have probably not.

Persistance and careful observation will win out, but it may also take some clever guesswork.

My first suggestion is to email Crimson ... if nothing else, it'll delight him folks are still puzzling over his work!   Smiley

It's been bothering me for a couple of days, and now I'm more curious than ever.

There's a room up from the Gallery of Heroes (upstairs at Mind's Eye) and along to the end of the hall. There are plenty of warnings not to enter, so I headed right in. Given clues from elsewhere in (or should I say "out") Mind's Eye (I don't want to give too much away, spoils the fun!) I found that I should "seek the web of thought", and a riddle which clearly describes a web.

However given all this, I still can't work out what I'm meant to do next. I looked around and found a good few things, and I said lots of magic words, but I've yet to find how to unlock the way forward. Anyone else managed to solve it? Clues?

The Arena is a really nice concept, which I'd love to see alive again. I'd be very happy to help testing whenever necessary Smiley

I understand development time limitations (very well, believe me), but here are some ideas I thought I'd jot down whilst I'm thinking about them...

The spectator stands are an important part of the arena, but I'm not sure yet exactly what they would show you. At least the state of health of both participants (similar to what you see in the prompt from the 'watch' command perhaps?).  You also probably want to see the casting of spells (as you would if you were in the same room). Now it would probably be more work, but round-by-round "X's massacring slash tickles Y" would probably make them feature pretty complete. There are 2 viewing stands... perhaps one could show you the perspective of one player/team and the other from the other side?

Related to scoring... there's a book on the shelves in the City Archives (yes, someone reads them Smiley where it would be handy to record events.

Something I haven't seen proposed is if there could be a prize put down (not necessarily from an immort) which would automatically be granted to the winner upon success.

Dead PCs could be automatically recalled to the prep rooms for revival (and in case of a team match presumably *not* allowed to re-enter).

Also I think making the arena autonomous is quite important, lest it become (another) time sink on the already busy overlords Smiley

I enjoyed using it last time (though I lost), and it would be fun to brush the dust away again (read: I know how to parry now  Roll Eyes ).

In my opinion this should give a bonus to regen of mana/hp according to area/terrain as mentioned before instead of giving bonus to food.  It roots you in place when cast, but you can break it simply by moving.  This would also break the effect of the spell.

I like this approach. Would be something like the camp skill talked about for thief/warrior folk, very nice.
